Kozica Dental has taken another step in providing our patients with the safest and most effective dental treatments available.
While some studies suggest that fluoride may reduce the risk of tooth decay, there is empirical and scientific evidence that dietary fluoride can be harmful to our health.1 Because of that, Kozica Dental is now a fluoride-free dental office.
Fluoride has been found to be toxic to our bodies and it can cause damage to our teeth, nervous system, and bones:1
Damage to Our Teeth
More than half of all adolescents have dental fluorosis. Severe fluorosis includes pitting, misshapen teeth, and missing enamel. One in five teens has moderate to severe damage. Dental fluorosis is correlated with increased tooth decay and periodontal disease.
Damage to Our Neurological System
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency lists fluoride as a “gold standard developmental neurotoxicant.” As fluoride in our body binds with heavy metals such as lead and aluminum, it enhances the absorption of those metals into our blood and brain. Dozens of human and laboratory studies predict increased incidence of learning disorders. Fluoride is associated with increased risk of neurodegenerative disease, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
Damage to Our Bodies and Bones
Fluoride consumption can contribute to or worsen a variety of other health issues, including:
- Thyroid issues
- Crohn’s disease
- Gastrointestinal cancers
- Arthritis
- Osteoporosis
- Preeclampsia and preterm birth
- Anemia
- Kidney disease
- Diabetes
At Kozica Dental, we choose to provide fluoride-free dentistry as part of our commitment to care for your overall health and to reduce the risk of exposing your body to unnecessary amounts of fluoride.
